My name is Adrienne Pluta and I am an NYC-based, state-licensed social worker. As a New Yorker, I understand that the city has a particular sense of humor — often laughing in the face of our best-laid plans and high personal expectations. I'm passionate about supporting clients in developing adaptive skills to navigate daily challenges, while creating pathways for identity exploration and expression.
From the time I was 8 years old, I just knew I was destined to be an actor. (Spoiler: I am a Therapist.) At NYU's Tisch School of the Arts, I trained in Meisner Technique, Voice & Speech, and Movement. After graduating, I spent time practicing Improv at UCB while performing stand-up and song-parodies throughout the city. It was through these experiences that I came to understand a core aspect of my identity: I am more interested in process than product — and that realization set the stage for my decision to become a therapist.
As a former actor, retail manager, voice-over assistant, hotel concierge, and more, I feel proud to have worn many hats. But I am prouder still of the hats I have taken off to make space for a more authentic version of myself. As a therapist dedicated to guiding individuals through the exploration, affirmation, and expression of identity, I believe the time invested in knowing oneself is fundamental to building a life worth living.
Utilizing a Motivational Interviewing and dialectical approach, I strive to offer collaborative, client-centered care while facilitating empowerment through evidence-based skills and psychoeducation. I implement an integrative approach tailored specifically to the individual — incorporating DBT, CBT, somatic exercises, mindfulness techniques, and art therapy interventions.
Adrienne works with adolescents, young adults, and working professionals who are new or returning to therapy. If you're ready to invest in building greater self-awareness and addressing barriers to personal achievement, healthy relationships, and physical health — Adrienne is ready to join you as a collaborative partner.
In sessions with Adrienne, you're bound to encounter a mix of humor, empathy, and honesty. Sessions are structured, but not rigidly — Adrienne believes the therapeutic relationship is a partnership, and that flexibility is necessary to collaboration. Come as you are, share with honesty, and she'll find the right interventions, exercises, and skills to support your growth.
