GN Counseling & Wellness therapists are licensed and in-network with Optum and UHC in New York, New Jersey, and Massachusetts. Virtual sessions are covered at your in-network rate in all three states, you don't need to be in NYC to use your benefits.

The key requirement is that you're physically located in a state where your therapist is licensed when sessions take place. All GN Counseling & Wellness therapists are credentialed in all three states.

Yes. GN Wellness is in-network with both Optum and United Healthcare (UHC) for mental health services in New York, New Jersey, and Massachusetts. Your sessions are billed at your in-network rate, you pay only your copay or coinsurance.
What Optum and UHC plans does GN Counseling & Wellness accept?
We accept most Aetna commercial plans including UHC Choice Plus PPO, Choice POS II, Open Access, and HMO (with referral). Some Aetna Medicaid or Medicare Advantage plans may not be covered, we confirm your specific plan during your benefits check.
What will my Optum / UHC copay be for therapy?
Copays typically range $0–$50 per session for in-network mental health care. Many UHC plans cover therapy at the same rate as primary care. Optum EAP plans may offer a set number of free sessions first. We verify your exact copay before your first appointment.
Does Optum / UHC cover virtual therapy?
Yes. UHC and Optum cover telehealth mental health services at the same in-network rate as in-person care. All GN Counseling & Wellness virtual sessions are eligible for Aetna in-network reimbursement in NY, NJ, and MA.
Do I need a referral for Optum or UHC?
Most UHC Choice Plus PPO plans do not require a referral for mental health services. Aetna HMO plans typically do. We clarify this when we verify your benefits, it's one of the first things we check.
How do I verify my Optum or UHC coverage?
